Kayakingstuff.info Site-Search Wimborne Riverside - Development

1.

Riverside, Wimborne provides the Club access to The River Stour at Wimborne - a great location for sheltered water skills in both Canadian and Kayak as well as the Clubs Flatwater and Race Boat Training.

The site has also been used to great effect for Taster Sessions for groups and in association with Moors Valley’s Activate’ scheme in which individuals and families can try out new sports - kayaking and canoeing being our niche !

We share use of the facilities with Dreamboats (Wimborne) and 2nd Wimborne Scouts, as well as with the Dorset Disabled Canoe Unit  (DDCU)

If you would like to use the site - maybe for a BCU one-star or two-star course then please contact Vince Boon, Matt Harris, Graham Wood, Andy Coomes or Selwyn Richards for more information.  (There are some guidance aspects on use of the site for paddlers and coaches of which users should be aware.)

2.

A fleet of Canadian canoes and 10 kayaks (shared use with other partners) is available on site as is a disabled toilet and hot drink making facilities.

3.

Flatwater/Racing Boat Sessions run throughout the year on Saturday mornings (9am to approx 11am) and in the summer on Thursdays (6.30pm on water - till approx 8pm). General Purpose sessions & regular fun time trials are features of the evenings.

4.

Competition - (see additional info about racing*)  The Club is gradually building up involvement in Competition Racing and has paddlers competing in endurance events such as Devizes to Westminster and the Waterside Series of Races; as well as National Divisional Races where recently we have attended Exeter, Basingstoke, Southampton, Bradford upon Avon and Oxford.  It is really great to see a growing band of Junior paddlers joining in and results showing continuing improvement.
